The Guyana Government has joined the international community in strongly condemning the devastating terrorist attack launched on the French newspaper Charlie Hebdo which has resulted in 12 deaths.
“The Government of Guyana subscribes to the principle of the full and effective exercise of the freedom of the press, which is an indispensable instrument for the functioning of representative democracy,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement issued yesterday.
In this regard, government stands in solidarity with France and the international community in their efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice. Government also extends condolences to the bereaved relatives of the deceased and the entire nation.
