A city mechanic is being accused of misappropriating $1.3 million that was entrusted to him.
Wayne Anderson, 37, of 38 Lamaha Springs, South Ruimveldt, pleaded not guilty after Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry read the charge against him in Georgetown yesterday.
According to Prosecutor Bharat Mangru, the fraud occurred in April last year at Bartica, where Anderson allegedly misused $1.3 million dollars that was given to him by Rudolph Craig to buy a pump and hydraulic turbine.
The prosecutor did not object to bail, which was set at $150,000 bail.
Anderson is due to appear at the Bartica Magistrates’ Court on January 15, when the matter will be called next.
