It is over six months since Bissoon Sukhnandan went missing from the small village of Huntley, Mahaicony and relatives are yet to lay eyes on him again.
Bissoon Sukhnandan, 47, of Huntley, Mahaicony, went missing on July 24, 2014 after leaving a friend’s home in the village. Sukhnandan, a construction worker, lived with his 19-year-old son after his wife passed away over a year ago. His sister, Geeta Sukhnandan said the man’s son, who was previously held in connection with his disappearance, left the village and never returned after his father’s disappearance. She said she found her brother’s disappearance strange since he was always a person who would stay at home.
She said after he went missing, she searched the Georgetown Public Hospital and the Mahaicony Hospital but no one had seen him.
“We were very close and I find it strange when after a day I didn’t see him,” she said.
She stated police never contacted them again after taking statements. “I don’t think my brother could have disappear suh. He wasn’t working, so he didn’t have money to just leave and go far,” she added.
“It’s a situation no one can understand. Bissoon is always at home and he would pass by me every day,” she stated, while adding that every day she hoped he would come back.
A missing persons report was made at the Mahaicony Police Station and Sukhnandan’s family is asking that anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts to call 6869763 or contact the nearest police station.
