A father of five was yesterday placed on $200,000 bail after he pleaded not guilty to unlawfully wounding his former partner.
When Cleavdon Williams, 44, of Angoy’s Avenue made his second appearance in the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Sherdel Marcus Isaacs, he was also told that he should stay 100 feet away from the victim Natasha Bruce, and was restrained from having any form communication with her.
He is expected to return to court on February 2.
On Friday last, in the Albion Magistrate’s Court before presiding Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh, Williams had initially answered to the charge that on January 6 at New Amsterdam, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Bruce.
According to reports, on the day in question, at around 5 am, 37-year-old Bruce, a mother of five, was attacked moments after she had stepped out of a car at her home. When Bruce rapped on the door, her attacker opened it and dealt her several stabs. On hearing the commotion, the driver of the car rushed to Bruce’s rescue and her assailant attempted to flee, but was held by the police.
Reports said Bruce had ended the relationship with the father of her children owing to constant abuse.
