Bridgetown, Barbados – Barbados’ opponents in the Nagico Super 50 limited overs tournament which bowls off in Trinidad and Tobago this weekend had better watch out, as Test opener Kraigg Brathwaite has set himself some goals which could spell trouble for the other teams.
Speaking in the President’s Suite at Kensington Oval where the Barbados team was hosted by president of the Barbados Cricket Association Joel “Big Bird” Garner and the BCA board, Brathwaite indicated that his goals were to continue his form in the 50-overs with the four-day and international engagements in mind.
“Of course, I shall be looking to rotate the strike more, but, as an opener I want to bat through the innings while scoring big to give Barbados a platform to do well in this tournament.
“I enjoyed a great 2014 at the club level, regional level and internationally. While I would have achieved most of my objectives in 2014 and I certainly learned a lot during my tour to South Africa, I definitely wanted to score more runs.
“A batsman always wants more runs and if there was any disappointment I am sorry that I did not score more runs against South Africa particularly when I had gotten the hundred,” said Brathwaite, who after 17 Test has three centuries with an average of 37.96.
The Barbados team was treated to a luncheon before accepting their tournament kit. The team left for Trinidad last night with Empire all-rounder Kevin Stoute leading the side who won the title last year. (Barbados Nation).
