Simpli Royal’s Miss Mashramani Queen Pageant has returned after a period of absence and will be held in two parts.
According to a press release, the Miss Guyana Mashramani Queen Pageant is billed for February 14, at the National Cultural Centre and the Miss Mash Queen International is billed for February 22.
The competitions are being held under the theme ‘One People, One Culture, One Celebration’ and Simpli Royal also plans to showcase a seven-week reality series capturing the preparation and promotional aspects of the show and things Guyanese; making it a production that punctuates the uniqueness of Mashramani.
The competitions have five segments. These will include a National Dress Performance where each contestant will showcase her costume concept. There is a swimsuit segment, which will emphasize a healthy, attractive feminine figure for her body type and top scores would be for confidence, personality and stage presence. Then there is the individual talent competition – a four-minute presentation in song, dance, drama or playing an instrument or a combination of these. The evening elegance segment is the most glamorous portion of the pageant and finally, an on-stage interview.
Simpli Royal has been accepting applications since December and has eight contestants to date: Gericia Francis, Khaya William, Tiffany Ferguson, Akeila Dey, Mallie Jackman, Ocia Dillon, Oranda Glasgow and Jasmine Wong.
Meanwhile, the organisation is seeking collaboration with the business community, noting that such a partnership could serve as a marketing tool as well as help to carve out cultural branding both at home and abroad.
