Weeks after he was initially admitted to a city hospital and then medevacked out of Guyana, Chief Education Officer Olato Sam is well again and back on the job.
Sam, who had held the post since 2011, had fallen ill in late November, reportedly with “disturbingly high” blood pressure levels but on Friday was well and present for a Ministry of Education press conference.
A ministry official told this newspaper that the ministry was grateful that he had recovered since he is a great asset.
According to reports, Sam had been in a critical condition and had been in the intensive care unit (ICU) for several days before he was moved from it and eventually released.
He was later admitted to an undisclosed Barbados hospital for further treatment and evaluation and was released just in time for the holidays.
