A construction worker is now a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital with broken ribs, head injuries and bruises after he was struck down allegedly by a minibus on Saturday night.
Sudesh Mears, 21, of Diamond, East Bank Demerara, said he was riding along the East Bank Demerara public road when the bus hit him, knocking him off of his pedal cycle. The injured man said he was aware up to the point when he was hit but could not recall much of what transpired afterward. He was subsequently rushed in a car to the hospital, where he remains a patient.
Mears said over the previous three days police had been visiting him and taking statements. He, however, could not say whether anyone had been arrested.
An aunt of the young man told Stabroek News that he had three broken ribs, head injuries and bruises about his body. The extent of the man’s head injuries are unknown. His relatives are awaiting results from an x-ray to shed light on his condition.
When Stabroek News visited Mears at the hospital on Monday, he was heavily bandaged and had visible bruises about his body.
