A 12-year-old girl is now hospitalized nursing severe burns to her chest and legs after her mother allegedly doused her with hot water because of a telephone call.
The burnt girl’s two younger siblings have since been taken into protective custody and their mother has since been arrested by the police.
According to a source, early last evening, the 12-year-old was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital by her mother. The mother had reportedly returned home and found the girl on the telephone. The girl was allegedly doused with hot water, sustaining burns on her chest and legs.
Stabroek News understands that the girl’s 11-year-old and six-year-old siblings were taken into protective custody.
The mother of the children is in police custody assisting with investigations.
