After striking for owed wages from the Region Six administration, security guards attached to the Home Safe Security firm have been paid and are back at work.
The guards walked off from their posts last Thursday for wages forNovember and December last year from the regional administration, while saying they were tired of mistreatment.
Region Six Chairman David Armogan told Stabroek News last evening that the workers received their payments last Friday around noon.
Regional Vice-Chairman Bhopaul Jagroo had admitted that the administration erred and did not make arrangements for money to be handed over to the security agency. Further, he said, all accounts were closed off in November.
The majority of the security guards were said to be single mothers who depend mainly on their salaries for their daily provisions.
