Devon Forde, who was twice accused of robbery which also included the hijacking of a vehicle, succumbed on Monday at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) after being run over by a minibus days earlier and his relatives are alleging that it was deliberate.
Forde, 28, a father of two of Lot 56 Second street, Campbellville was reportedly struck down by minibus BRR 6950.
His aunt Lorraine Griffith told this newspaper, “All I know is a minibus was tracing he and another boy and as he was riding his scooter motorbike, the bus just run into he and he fall down on the road.”
The woman said when she visited her nephew at the hospital he had sustained injuries to his head, ribs, entire right foot and bruises about his body. She added that she heard the driver was in police custody but when she visited the police station no information was provided.
Meanwhile, Patricia Kissoon, Forde’s girlfriend, said she was dissatisfied by all that happened and called for justice.
A distressed Kissoon said, “I just get a call that he was in accident and when I go see him at the hospital he said as he was heading out on his scooter, the bus boy with two other persons in the bus was tracing he and they just… drive over him causing him to pitch into a nearby trench.”
She added that she was not aware of any robbery or anything of the sort that might have led to this since the driver at the police station said that nothing was missing from his minibus.
She also said that she was currently three months pregnant for Forde from their one-year relationship and was not sure when he will be buried since she has no money to do so.
A post-mortem examination that was performed yesterday on Forde revealed that he died as a result of blunt trauma to the chest.
Forde had been charged with robbery in 2009 and then again last year. On both occasions when he appeared in court he was released on bail.
