The Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) has shortlisted a 36-man training squad for upcoming international 15s and 7s tournaments for the first half of the 2015 season.
According to a press release from the union, a blend of the usual suspects and not too familiar names will be competing for roster spots for the NACRA 15’s home game against Barbados on March 7, the World Rugby Sevens World Series in Hong Kong from March 27 to 29 and the NACRA 2016 Olympics Qualifier Championships on June 13 and 14.
That latter is set for North Carolina in the USA.
Training for the 15s squad will be done on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 16:00hrs to 18:00hrs. Simulation matches will be held on Sundays from 16:00hrs to 18:00hrs at the National Park Rugby Ground.
For the 7s squad, training sessions will be held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 16:00hrs to 18:00hrs and Sundays from 9:00hrs to 11:00hrs.
Game practice sessions will be staged on Saturdays, from 16:00hrs at the National Park Rugby Ground.

Mars, Dwayne Schroeder, Lancelot Adonis, Leon Greaves, Rickford Cummings, Jermaine Prowell, Troy Bascom, Patrick King, Rawle Cole, Grantley Williams, Godfrey Broomes, Christopher Singh, Randy James, Blaise Bailey, Jamal Angus, Jose Felicien and Carl Lewis.
This year promises to be a challenging one for the NACRA 7s and 15s champions since Guyana will be playing top flight rugby on the road to Rio (2016 Olympics).
