Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) President Michael Singh yesterday said that no one has officially signalled their intention to contest for the post of GABA president at today’s Annual General Meeting.
The AGM, which is scheduled to commence at noon, will see five positions being contested. The positions to be contested are President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and Assistant Secretary/Treasurer.
Singh, who also hold the portfolio of Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) Vice-President In an invited comment told Stabroek Sports: “No one has come forward yet.”
The GABA chief during an earlier interview with this publication said he will not be seeking re-election.
Questioned if he would consider re-election if no one was to contest the top position, Singh said a decision will be taken at the forum. Two individuals from each of the affiliated clubs will be allowed to vote during the forum.
The affiliated clubs are Dynas Ravens, TGH Pacesetters, Colts, Pepsi Sonics, Republic Bank Nets, Eagles, UG Trojans, Plaisance Guardians, Knights and Melanie Patriots. Teams who can observe the election process are Buxton Heat and West Side Jammers.
