Caribbean Airlines has announced that it will waive change/cancellation fees and fare differences for customers travelling to and from New York today and tomorrow in view of the major blizzard (Winter Storm Juno) which was forecasted to hit the US Northeast as of noon today.
A press release from Caribbean Airlines said it was expected that the inclement weather would affect the operations at New York’s International Airport (JFK). Therefore, customers with cancellations or significantly delayed flights may opt for a refund. However, original travel must have been booked on or before Sunday, January 25.
Caribbean Airlines said its teams are working diligently to minimize the impact on customers’ schedules and will advise of new departure times as they become available. As of noon, today it had cancelled, delayed or consolidated many flights to/from JFK for today and tomorrow. Other changes could be expected depending on the severity and clean-up required after the storm.
Customers are urged to use the ‘flight status’ tool on the Caribbean Airlines website for real-time updates on affected flights and new departure/arrival times, prior to leaving for the airport.
Customers can call 868-625-7200 (Trinidad & Tobago), 1-800-920-4225 (Toll Free North America), 1-800-744-2225 (Toll Free Caribbean) and 1-888-359-2475 (Jamaica) for assistance with rebooking or a refund, the release said. It added that longer than normal wait times should be expected.
