Crime Chief Leslie James yesterday said the police have a “person of interest” in custody in connection with the execution of businesswoman Patricia Sanasie.
The detention of this person, is all the information James would relate when contacted by this newspaper.
Sanasie who was the wife of auto dealer, Deokarran ‘Ram’ Sanasie was riddled with bullets three Monday nights ago by a lone gunman dressed in black and wearing a mask. Sanasie, 45, was shot point-blank, five times to her upper body around 7.30 pm after exiting her car to open her gate so that her daughter could have driven the vehicle inside the yard.
She was fumbling to open the gate when a silver-grey Toyota Raum pulled up in front of them, a man exited, pulled out a gun, pointed it at Sanasie and started shooting.
The woman and her husband were in a bitter dispute. He had accused her of attempting to execute him last February but she had denied this.
At the time of Sanasie’s death, her husband was abroad and the police said that while he was not a suspect in the killing, they would like to interview him if he returns to Guyana.
Sources close to the woman had told Stabroek News that the woman was planning to migrate to the United States. One source said that money was at the root of the tumultuous relationship between the couple.
