Three more persons have been fined $7,500 each for driving under the influence of alcohol while an arrest warrant is out for a minibus driver.
As part of its ongoing campaign, the police yesterday said that Omadatt Chickery, of 27 Hill Street, Albouystown, George-town, was stopped and tested with a breathalyzer on 2014-12-21 while driving mini bus BSS 2635 on the Courtland Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice. The police say that he was found to be above the legal limit and was charged but failed to appear at the Albion Magistrate’s Court on 2014-12-23. An arrest warrant has since been issued for him by the court.
Meanwhile, Nartram Motee, of Lot 307 Canefield, East Canje, Berbice, was stopped and tested with a breathalyzer on 2015-01-12 while driving motor car PJJ 3428. The police said that he was found to be above the legal limit, was charged and appeared at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court on 2015-01-13 where he pleaded “guilty” and was fined $7,500.
The police further said that Sybert Park, 27 years, of Liverpool Village, Corentyne, Berbice, was stopped and tested with a breathalyzer on 2014-12-30 while riding motor cycle CF 7250 on the Fort Canje Public Road, Berbice.
He was found to be above the legal limit, was charged and appeared at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court on 2015-01-06 where he pleaded “guilty” and was fined $7,500.
Tirendra Totaram, of Lot 61 Grant 1803, Crabwood Creek, Corentyne, Berbice, was stopped and tested with a breathalyzer on 2015-01-04 while driving motor car PNN 7746. The police say that he was found to be above the legal limit and was charged. He appeared at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court on 2015-01-07 where he pleaded “guilty” and was fined $7,500.
