A newspaper vendor was shot early this morning following a robbery at the Kaieteur News outlet located on the corner of Robb and King streets.
The vendor has been identified as Worren Accra, 47, called `Kangaroo’ of Golden Grove, EBD. The robbery occurred at around 7:00 hours after two armed men entered the building, demanded cash from a man who was behind the counter selling newspapers, and then also robbed Wilman who had just finished transacting some business at the said location.
Stabroek News understands that after the men snatched the money, the vendor tried to fight back during which he was shot once. He is in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
The men then made good their escape with an undisclosed sum of money on a motorcycle by proceeding east along Robb Street.
