Not unlike the legendary Martin Luther King, Jr, I imagine that I have reached the mountain top, career-wise and have seen the Promised Land. Looking down in the valley I observed some of my countrymen and women, two of whom have gratuitously identified themselves, who, sadly, have not yet begun the climb. In addition, Stabroek News misled them by printing “émigrés” when I referred specifically to “rémigrés” in my letter of the January 30, 2015. There is a significant contextual difference.
As an unapologetic follower of the Gandhian philosophy of satyagrahic immortality, I merely sought to place our country in the context of the developmental trajectory which has been unerringly crafted since 1992 and, hopefully, we will become a model for other previously cash-strapped underdeveloped former colonies. The truth is always provable by reference to the statistical data.
