A labourer who told the court he is a sickly man was yesterday remanded to prison after he denied having a quantity of cocaine in his possession
The charge read that on February 2, at Georgetown, Marlon Peters, 41, had 2 grammes of cocaine in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge when Magistrate Judy Latchman read it to him at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court 3.
Police Prosecutor Shellon Daniels objected to bail stating that no special reason was presented to the court. Daniels said further that the defendant gave the police his address as 103 Wellington Street, Georgetown, which differs from that given to the court.
No facts of the matter were presented other than what was stated in the charge.
Bail was refused and the matter is adjourned to February 12 for commencement of the trial.
