A 17-year-old boy was crushed to death this morning at the Caricom Rice Mill at Anna Regina after a storage tank with paddy give way.
He was identified at Threeion Gittens of Richmond Housing Scheme. Two other persons who were with him at the time managed to escape injury.
Gittens who has been working at the mill as a labourer for the past eleven months and the two others were cleaning underneath the tank which sources say is very old.
At some point during the cleaning exercise the supervisor told them that there was a hole in the tank. A short while later a strange sound was heard before paddy came gushing out of the bottom of the tank.
