Primo Corvaro, Head of FIFA Member Associations arrived on local shores yesterday to lead a FIFA and Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) delegation during the reform process of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) constitution.
The GFF Normalization Committee officially began the process of constitutional reform yesterday at the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) Headquarters in Kingston. It is expected to last for the duration of two days.
According to a source close to the federation, the members of the FIFA appointed Normalization Committee will also serve as part of the membership of the constitutional reform committee.
The source further alleged the local contingent of the committee will feature Lance Henry, Eric Phillips, GOA President and Attorney-at-Law Kalam-Azad Juman-Yassin, A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) Member of Parliament and Attorney-at-Law James Bond and Alexei Ramotar (son of President Donald Ramotar).
The source noted a new draft of the amended GFF constitution is expected to be completed shortly, highlighting that several statutes and laws will be under consideration for amending during the deliberations.
According to the source possible topics include the clarity surrounding full member associations and their rights, the creation of possible laws and its interpretation with regards to the contentious Interim Management Committees (IMC), the increasing of the electorate body to ensure a constitutional quorum is always achieved and the amending of term limits for executives.
