The Guyana Public Service Union (GPSU) has announced that it has obtained accreditation from the Guyana Elections Commission (Gecom) for Domestic Observers Status for the upcoming May 11th general elections.
“As a stakeholder in the Guyanese society, the [GPSU] and workers represented have an abiding interest in free and fair elections of the national government and parliament,” the union said in a press release.
Gecom Chairman Dr Steve Surujbally said the group has been granted accreditation in accordance with the Elections Act.
The GPSU has started preparations in this regard and has informed its membership to submit the required information so that the process can start in a timely manner.
