A nine-year-old pupil of Novar Primary School, Mahaicony is now in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital after she was hit down along the East Coast Demerara Public Road.
Kelly Ann Archer was on her way home from school after 3 pm when she disembarked a minibus and the car, reported to be speeding, hit her, Ptolemy Blackman, a cousin of the injured child told Stabroek News.
The Grade Four pupil, who lives at Friendship, East Coast Demerara, was rushed to the Mahaicony Hospital by public-spirited persons, after which she was transferred to Georgetown.
Distraught relatives were last evening anxiously awaiting the results of various tests to learn the extent of the child’s injuries. “She wasn’t responding. The doctor say she ga get a CT scan and a x-ray and she ga wait fuh de bone specialist to come,” a relative stated.
Relatives said they believed the driver was arrested.
