Guyanese man, woman fined over cocaine find in Barbados

A Guyanese man and woman were on Friday fined $60,000 each when they appeared separately before a magistrate in Barbados and pleaded guilty to trafficking in cocaine.

According to the Barbados Nation, Dennis France, 37, was charged with possession of cocaine, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and acts preparatory for the trafficking of cocaine. The woman, Lloydanna Morris, 23 was charged with possession, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and importation.

According to the Nation, police investigations revealed that Morris arrived in Barbados on Tuesday with the cocaine and later handed it to France.

On Wednesday, police executed a search warrant at the Rendezvous, Christ Church, residence of France and one kilo of cocaine was discovered and seized, the newspaper said.

France and Morris appeared separately in the Oistins Magistrates Court on Friday and both pleaded guilty to all their charges. France was fined $60,000 forthwith on the charge of possession or two years in prison and was convicted, reprimanded and discharged (CRD) on the remaining charges. Morris was fined $60,000 forthwith on importation or two years in prison. She received a CRD on the remaining charges, the newspaper said.
