The Kuru Kururu resident who was shot on Friday sustained some 15 bullet wounds, hospital sources said yesterday.
Meanwhile police sources said the man was shot by a businessman during an alleged attempt to rob that businessman in the Timehri area.
The suspected bandit is now recuperating at the Georgetown Public Hospital, following emergency surgery to remove the lodged bullets.
According to a police source, on Friday February 6, the man was attempting to rob a businessman in the Timehri area, when the businessman fired shots at him and injured him. He was subsequently transported to the GPH, where he underwent emergency surgery.
Police investigations into the incident continue. This newspaper was unable to ascertain whether the businessman was arrested.
