Former champs St. George’s Secondary, got their campaign off to the perfect start, crushing St. Mary’s 5-1 when the third annual Milo/Petra Organization Secondary Schools u-20 football tourney continued yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
The North Road unit took the early lead in the fourth minute as Joshua Williams scored with a lobbed finish into the right hand corner from the left side of the box, after racing onto a lobbed pass.
St. Mary’s would equalize seven minutes later as Rafael Bollers scored, lashing his powerful shot into the lower left hand corner, after an attempted clearance was directed into his path within the right side of the area.
That would prove to be closest the fixture would get to a contest as St. George’s netted through an Adolph George 28th minute conversion, placing his effort to the lower right corner in one-on-one situation with the keeper, after stealing ball from the final defender.
It would then become 3-1 two minutes later compliments of a Travis Cottom strike from 28 yards out from the centre of the field that deceived the goalkeeper and settled into the left hand corner.
Jameel Wilson would then make it 4-1 in the 32nd minute, stabbing home to the centre of the net from within the area, after his initial strike was parried fortuitously back into his path by the onrushing custodian.
The result would be sealed in the 47th minute as custodian Orin Moore rifled a 26 yard freekick from the centre of the field into the back of the net.
