Tournament favourites Chase Academy sent a strong warning to the field, crushing newcomers St. Stanislaus College 5-0 when the third annual Milo/Petra Organization Secondary Schools u-20 football tourney continued yesterday.
Hosted at the Ministry of Education ground on Carifesta Avenue, Marlon Nedd opened the scoring for the Parade Street unit with a finish into the right corner after racing onto a pass from Isaiah Reddy.
The score line would then become 2-0 five minutes later as St. Stanislaus conceded an unfortunate own goal. Playing provider to the opener, Reddy would make it 3-0 in the 19th minute with a simple tap in to the left hand corner from within the area.
Jeremy Garrett would the etch his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 34th minute, thumping his right footed attempt into the top right hand after latching onto the ball 22 yard out in the centre of the park.
The result would then sealed four minutes later as Keith Caines scored, placing his from outside the centre of the box into the lower right hand corner of the net.
In the second fixture, Brickdam Secondary downed Ascension Secondary by a 2-0 score line through goals from Andrew Adams and Wayne Baker in the 15th and 30th minutes correspondingly.
Also securing a win was Central High who defeated Cummings Lodge Secondary 3-0. Orwin Hunte, Tariq Jacobs and Emmanuel Williams scored in the 15th, 41st and 54th minutes respectively.
In the fourth fixture, South Ruimveldt dismissed St. John’s College 3-0 compliments of a double from Adrian Aaron in the 40thand 70th minutes. Sealing the win with a solo effort in the 58th minute was Junior Thomas.
The action continues this Saturday at the same venue with the second round of group fixtures.
