Georgetown Football Club (GFC) and Western Tigers were amongst the winners in the u-17 section of the Frank Watson Memorial u-17 knockout tourney, defeating Flamingo and Riddim Squad respectively yesterday at the GFC ground.
The home side downed Flamingo by a 3-1 score line in the opening match of the day. David Coates and Matthew Harrison was on target for the winners in the 23rd and 25th minutes while an own goal in the 12th minute opened the scoring for the Bourda based side.
Registering a goal in the loss was Darrell Qualis in the 13th minute. On the other-hand, Western Tigers needled Riddim Squad by a 1-0 margin. Orin Osbourne was the difference between the two sides as he found the back of the net in the 26th minute.
Similarly registering a victory was Santos FC who defeated Renaissance FC by a 7-6 margin on sudden death kicks following a marathon 13 round penalty shoot-out. The score at the end of normal time was 0-0.
The fourth matchup saw Black Pearl FC defeating Sunburst Camptown 1-0 while in the fifth fixture, Black Water FC defeated Houston Stars via walkover.
