Former Auditor General Anand Goolsarran is considering launching a party to contest the upcoming general elections, sources say.
Goolsarran, who recently completed an international assignment, is said to be contemplating forming a party as he is interested in continuing to serve the country.
Goolsarran, who served as Auditor General during a crucial period when the public accounts of the country needed to be reconstructed, has over the last few years taken a strong stance on transparency and the need for rigid financial accountability by the government. He recently served as head of the local transparency body and writes a weekly column in Stabroek News on accountability.
