A mother, accused of scalding her 12-year-old daughter with hot water after finding her on the telephone, has been charged.
Director of the Child Care and Protection Agency (CC&PA) Ann Greene confirmed that the girl’s mother was charged in connection with the January 20th incident on Monday.
The 12-year-old girl remains in the custody of the CC&PA along with her two younger siblings.
When contacted for an update on the children, Greene said the 12-year-old is doing well, while noting that the agency also still has custody of the girl’s 11-year-old and six-year-old siblings.
According to reports, the mother had returned home and found the girl on the telephone. Subsequently the girl was allegedly doused with hot water and sustained burns on her legs and to her torso. She was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where she was treated.
