A taxi driver was placed on $100,000 bail yesterday after he denied misusing $500,000 that was entrusted to him to buy building materials.
Paul Marshall pleaded not guilty to the charge when Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry read it to him in a city court.
It is alleged that on October 17, last year, being solely entrusted by Nicola Clarke with $500,000 in order to purchase building materials, Marshall fraudulently converted the money to his own use and benefit.
Prosecutor Michael Grant had no objections to bail but asked for reporting conditions to be applied.
As a result, Marshall was granted $100,000 bail on the condition that he report to the officer-in-charge of the Fraud Department at the Brickdam Police Station every Friday.
The matter was adjourned to March 13.
