An ex-con is being accused of stealing over $7M in goods during eight separate incidents of break and enter and larceny at Amelia’s Ward in Linden.
Leroy Nedd, a mason of Lot 640 Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden, was on Thursday remanded to prison after he appeared in a city court to answer to the charges.
Nedd, who was previously convicted for break and enter and larceny, pleaded not guilty to the eight new charges read to him by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court 1.
It is alleged that between August 12 and 14, 2014, Nedd broke and entered the dwelling house of Veronica Haley and stole a total of $290,000 in items.
It is also alleged that between September 28 and October 13, 2014, Nedd broke and entered the home of Leonard Jennings and stole $4,464,000 in valuables.
Also, between January 10 and 16, 2015, Nedd allegedly broke and entered the dwelling house of Joseph Rose and stole $640,000 in articles.
It is also alleged that between January 19 and 30, 2015, Nedd broke and entered the house of Lester Bourne and stole a quantity of items amounting to $1,010,000. During this time, he also allegedly broke and entered the storeroom of Bourne and stole another $29,000 of items.
Also, between January 19 and 30, 2015, the accused allegedly broke and entered the home of Nikesha Fiedtkou and stole a quantity of valuables, totaling to $229,000.
It is further alleged that between January 25 and February 1, 2015, the accused broke and entered the house of Royston Leon and stole $479 000 in items, and also that between January 28 and February 10, 2015, at South Amelia’s Ward, Linden, he broke and entered the dwelling house of Don Phillips and stole $195,000 in items.
Prosecutor Michael Grant objected to bail and he noted that the police at Linden are currently investigating other matters and more charges are likely to be laid against Nedd. He did, however, note that over $5M in items were recovered with the assistance of the accused.
The court heard that Nedd was charged previously and convicted for an offence of a similar nature and he had spent six months in jail.
The unrepresented Nedd was subsequently remanded to prison and is expected to make his next court appearance on February 17 at the Linden Magistrate’s Court.
