St. Rose’s High recorded the largest margin of victory to date in the third annual Milo/Petra Organization Secondary Schools u-20 football tourney, trouncing David Rose 12-0 yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground on Carifesta Avenue.
Nathan Saul opened the scoring in the very first minute, stabbing home down the centre of the net from inside the six yard area. He would then net his second in the 16th minute to increase his side’s lead, placing his shot into the lower left hand corner from within the right side of the box.
Kegan Howard would then etch his name on the scorer’s sheet three minutes onward with a simple finish into the right corner after the goalkeeper parried a right sided cross from Saul into his path.
Saul would then complete his hat-trick in the 25th minute to further extend his side’s lead, lobbing his shot from the right side of the field over the keeper into the left hand corner of the goal.
It would then become 5-0 in the 32nd minute as Howard sealed his brace with a right footed effort that came off the right post and rolled into the back of the net, after latching onto a right sided cross inside the centre of the area from Saul.
With the fixture a foregone conclusion, the North Road unit would register a further seven goals in the fixture to seal the easy win.
Shaquan Williams continued the assault with a second half helmet trick in the 49th, 58th, 60th and 62nd minutes while Dexter Nelson, Jermaine Jack and Dolphin Dominique added solo conversions in the 50th, 59th and 64th minutes correspondingly.
In the opening fixture, Morgan Learning Centre hammered Christ Church Secondary 4-0 compliments of a Ronaldo Dover in the 20th, 42nd and 54th minutes. Opening the scoring for the winners in the third minute was Wayne Murray.
The second fixture saw newcomers St. Joseph’s High edged Kingston Secondary by a 1-0 score line. Netting the winner for the Woolford Avenue outfit was Lancelot Barker in the 18th minute.
Former champs St. George’s Secondary continued their unbeaten showing, defeating Brickdam Secondary by a 6-0 score line. Taking the initial lead in the 14th minute through a Romel Persaud own goal, Travis Cottam led the winners with a double in the 56th and 65th minutes.
Completing the win with solo goals were Joshua Williams, Carlton Christian and Adolph George in the 26th, 60th and 61st minutes respectively.
