High tides last evening resulted in water flowing several inches across the road at St. Lawrence, Roden Rust, Blake and the stelling at Parika, East Bank Essequibo.
When Stabroek News visited the areas the water was rising rapidly and vehicles were barely making it to manoeuvre.
A few persons were bravely riding through water while some others who had just brought their produce out from their farms were paddling through. There were also some young boys playing the water.
Residents were thankful that the kokers were functioning properly, preventing the water from getting into their yards.
Nevertheless they were afraid of erosion and said sections of the sea defence had already started to wash away.
