The Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club’s (RHTYSC) 11th Annual Busta Champion-of-Champions limited overs cricket tournament will bowl off today with semifinal action.
In the first semi-final today Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets will battle g West Berbice while Tucber Park will square off against Albion Community Centre.
RHTYSC will have the home field advantage when they play west Berbice at home while the second encounter between Tucber Park and Albion will be played Port Mourant Cricket Ground today.
Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets who are without several of their players due to overseas cricket commitment and migration, will depend heavily on Jason Sinclair, Delbert Hicks, Shawn Pereira, Brandon Prashad, Vihal Crandon, West Indies female cricketer Shemaine Campbelle and Leroy Bristol.
West Berbice, who has reached the semifinals of the tournament seven times but has never appeared in the final will be hoping that Arthley Bailey, Keith Fraser, Keon Fraser, Raun Johnson, Kellon Carmichael, Steffan Adams and Rendell Bobb can help them acquire their maiden title after several attempts.
The other clash will see a depleted Albion Community Centre who are also without several national players hoping to get the better of Tucber Park. Albion will rely heavily on Kandasammy Surujnarine, Balchan Baldeo, Jonathan Foo, Gudakesh Motie-Kanhai, David Latchaya and Daniel Lewis.
Tucber Park on the other hand will bank on the experience of skipper Anthony D’Andrade, Eugene La Fleur, Joemal La Fleur, Nial Smith, Hakeem Hinds, Devon Clements and Damon Vantull as they seek a spot in the final which is expected to bowl off in March with ball by ball commentary on NCN and will be played under lights at the Albion Sports complex.
