The ‘Sport of Kings’ returns to the Rising Sun Turf Club tomorrow with the staging of a Pre Mashramani eight-race sprint classic.
In excess of $7M will be on offer for the Rising Sun Turf Club/Jumbo Jet conglomerate collaborative fixture which is scheduled to attract most of Guyana’s premier trotters.
All the events on the day’s programme will be 1100M sprints.
The field for the feature D1 and lower event is wide opened as most of the owners has thrown their fastest steeds in the lineup. The Shariff stable leads with three entries: California Strike, Spit Fire and Swing Easy.
Jumbo Jet will gear up the speedy Appealing Harvest and Jack In My Style. The Jagdeo Connection from all indication will be going with Right To Rule and the fit again Country Armagh.
Red and Lovely, Passion for Song and Money in Return will also be in the running.
However all eyes will be on the newly imported Piz a Holiday from the Elcock/ Poonai stable as it makes its debut on local soil in a quest to cart off the appetizing $1M first prize and trophy.
The co-feature will be for Guyana and West Indian bred three year old horses. It’s My Choice, Gold De Cova, Keep on Swinging, Dream Come through, Midnight Blue and Sweet Return will be the favorites looking to take the returns of winning stake of $500,000 and a trophy.
Captain Crook of the Jumbo Jet stable will be hard pressed as it looks for its fourth win in a row in the E2 and lower event for the $500,000 first prize and trophy. However it will have to first get past the likes of Settle In Seattle, Release the Beast, Swing Easy and Good Will Boy.
Other races on the card include the Four-year old and G class events for a winner’s purse of $400,000 each, the H and Lower and the three-year old Guyana bred and born horses for $250,000 each and the J3 and lower event for $150,000 and trophy.
The event will be held under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority.
