A labourer was yesterday remanded to prison after he appeared in a city court charged with stealing a Samsung Galaxy S4 cellphone, which he denied.
The charge against Joel Matthews stated that on February 14, at Campbellville, he stole the cellphone valued $140,000 belonging to Loraine Rodney.
Prosecutor Adduni Inniss objected to bail based on the nature and gravity of the offence.
Presiding Magistrate Annette Singh, upheld the prosecution’s objection and she remanded Matthews to prison. He will appear again in court on March 9, when his trial will commence.
