Sudesh Fitzgerald and Rosetta Hiralall won the respective men and women’s singles 501 competitions of the Guyana Darts Association Open competition Saturday at the Malteenoes Sports Club.
In the men’s Open final Fitzgerald made light work of Anil Lachman winning 3-0 in the best of five encounter while Hiralall also won 3-0 against Mary Correia.
Ricardo Madhoo (men) and Melissa Smartt (women) defeated Jamal Holligan and Shakuntalla Sewpersaud 2-0 and 2 – 1 respectively for third place.
The singles events were sponsored by Apex Insurance Brokers and Peter Baker.
In the women’s doubles 501 event sponsored by Dudley Kirton, Smartt and Natisha Fordyce upset Hiralall and Sewpersaud 3-2 with the pair of Correia and Jean DeSouza placing third.

Lallchand Rambharose and Lachhman defeated Sudesh Fitzgerald and Sanjay Bhupan, 3-0 in the final of the men’s doubles 501 which was sponsored by GUYOIL. Sherwyn Greene and Chris Fulton then defeated Delon Correia and Nicholas Seetaram, 2-0 for third place.
