Actors and potential actors are invited to attend an audition tomorrow, April 26, for a GEMS Theatre Productions presentation of William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar.
The audition will be held at the National Cultural Centre at 17:00 hrs (5 pm). Julius Caesar is one of the plays on the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) English B syllabus and the production is therefore mainly for the benefit of students writing the exam, a press release from GEMS said.
The staging of the play will help them to have a better understanding of Shakespeare’s work, it added. The play will be staged at the National Cultural Centre and the various schools will be invited to attend. It will also travel to various parts of the country.
Tomorrow’s reading is an open one, and interested persons with a flair for Shakespearean language and knowledge of his works are all welcome to audition, the release said.
Veteran stage performer, Derek Gomes will direct the production which will be staged in April. Dates for the performances are to be announced.
