A young man is nursing a stab wound to his stomach in the Georgetown Public Hospital after he was locked out of the Amerindian Hostel on Tuesday evening.
Ishmael Hunter travelled from the Upper Mazaruni area to receive treatment for a fractured leg and was staying at the hostel at the time.
The injured man’s sister, Lydra, told Stabroek News that they had no knowledge of what led to the stabbing, since her brother was locked out of the building. Lydra added that the facility opens its door up to 7 pm and after her brother did not return on time he was locked out of the compound.
Lydra related that someone broke the news of her brother’s predicament to them but no other information in relation to the incident was given.
The woman also mentioned that many times people are left on the road if they do not arrive on time to enter the compound. No report was made to the police up to last evening, since the man’s sister said that they were not fully aware as to where to make a report, since they had all travelled from the interior.
When Stabroek News visited Hunter at the hospital yesterday, he lay with a bandaged stomach while his father and sister were at his side.
