A Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC) engineer was gunned down around 11 am today on the Little Diamond Public Road, East Bank Demerara in a drive-by shooting.
Dead is Trevor Abrams, 32, of Lot 131 Samatta Point, Grove Housing Scheme, EBD.
His relatives told Stabroek News that he was not headed to work but had some other business to transact. As he was on his way to the destination, a car drove by and shots were fired.
Abrams was shot five times, two of which hit him to his back. He was pronounced dead at the Diamond Diagnostic Centre.
The Ministry of Natural Resources this afternoon issued the following statement:

As such, the Ministry and the Commission is calling on the relevant agencies to conduct a thorough investigation that led to the untimely demise of Mr. Abrams.
I wish to convey the condolences of the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment, the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission and my personal sympathy to his family and colleagues. We have you in our thoughts during this time of bereavement.
