A teenager made his first court appearance yesterday after he was accused of committing a robbery on Mashramani Day before being arrested by the victim. When Nicholas Sookram, 17, of Lot 280 Independence Boulevard, Georgetown, appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court 3, he denied the charge read to him.
It is alleged that on February 23rd, at Vlissengen Road, Georgetown, being in the company of others, Sookram robbed Brandon Singh of a gold chain and a Samsung Galaxy S4 cellphone, amounting to $155,000.
The prosecutor objected to bail, citing, among other things, the fact that Sookram was arrested by Singh himself.
Bail was refused and the matter was adjourned until March 9.
