National swimmer Hannibal Gaskin captured two events when the Guyana Amateur Swimming Association’s Mashramani competition ended at the
National Aquatic Centre, Lilendaal.
Gaskin first captured gold on Sunday in the boy’s 15-17 50m freestyle event with Omar Adams second and Joseph de Nobrega third.
He returned on Monday to win the boys’ 15-17 1500m freestyle event from Adams and de Nobrega.
On Sunday, Antonio Hussein sped to gold in the boys’ 13-14 50m freestyle event beating Daniel Scott and Romeo Newton into second and third place respectively.
The boys’ 11-12 category, saw Sekhel Tzedeq with a perfect swim from start to finish taking gold in the 50m freestyle ahead of Nikhil Ramnarine and Tommy Olaleye in that order.
In the boys’ 9-10 age group category, Leon Seaton stamped his authority in the 50m freestyle taking gold ahead of Raekwon Noel and David Scott who were second and third respectively.
In the boys’ eight years and under category, Paul Mahaica was in excellent form as he swam to victory and gold in the 50m freestyle event ahead of Jonathan van Lange and Elliott Gonsalves.
At the conclusion of the competition prizes were presented to the winners and runners up by vice president of FINA Dale Neuburger and GASA president Ivan Persaud.
The competition was being used as a time trial for the upcoming CARIFT Games and the GASA is expected to name the team for those games shortly.
