Tenders were on Tuesday received for the procuring of laptops for teachers under the Guyana Improving Teacher Education Project (GITEP).
The bids were opened at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) office located at Main and Urquhart streets.
GITEP, which is supported by a World Bank credit facility and other financiers, such as the Government of Guyana, the Commonwealth of Learning and other local sources, costs US$5.12 million, of which US$4.2 million is funded by the World Bank.
Facilitated through the Ministry of Education, the programme was launched in 2011 with its main objective being to advance the quality and delivery of education to and by teachers, so as to improve the learning achievements of Guyana’s schoolchildren.
The names of the companies which submitted bids along with the respective amounts are shown in the table below.
The Ministry of Education also received eight bids for the rehabilitation and improvement of the University of Guyana’s drainage network.
With the procuring entity being the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment, a lone bid was received for the consultancy services for capacity building of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) field officers.
The Office of the President received two bids for the provision of air travel services for the Office of Climate Change.
Bids were also received for the construction of a turmeric factory at Hosororo, in Region 1 and the procuring entity for this tender is the National Agriculture Research and Extension Institute (NAREI).
