A jury earlier this afternoon found Jarvis Small and Bibi Sharima-Gopaul guilty of the brutal 2010 murder of 16-year-old Neesa Gopaul,
Sharima-Gopaul who is the mother of the teen was later sentenced by Justice Navindra Singh to 106 years in prison. Small, her former lover will spend the next 96 years behind bars.
The jury reached their decision after just a few hours of deliberation.
Small after the verdict and the sentencing was expressionless while Sharima-Gopaul gasped from apparent shock.
The teen is suspected to have been killed between September 24, 2010, and October 2, 2010, at Madewini, Linden-Soesdyke Highway. Her body was found stuffed into a suitcase, which was anchored in a creek at the Emerald Tower Resort with several dumbbells.
