Former President Bharrat Jagdeo today said that President Donald Ramotar has indicated that he has plans to change the policy under which members of the goverment and other public officials access health assistance from the Consolidated Fund.
Jagdeo was this afternoon speaking a press conference he called to clarified points he made at Babu John on Sunday at a PPP event. He was asked about the millions of dollars spent on health assistance to ministers and other officials and which was recently exposed in Stabroek News.
“I spoke to President Ramotar and he said he has plans to change this policy” Jagdeo said at Freedom House.
He said the president said he will move to a policy of insurance so that the charge against the consolidated fund is limited.
He was also questioned on the over four million spent to fix government members’ teeth and Jagdeo said he agrees that some of the assistance should not be given.
