Police have charged three more men with driving under the influence of alcohol.
Police said in a statement that the three men were each fined $7,500 when they appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates Court and pleaded guilty.
Errol Persaud of Lot 46 Brickdam and Austin Place, Georgetown, was stopped by police and tested with a breathalyzer on February 15 while driving motor vehicle PPP 1253 on Brickdam. He was found to be above the legal limit in terms of the consumption of alcohol and was charged. He appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on February 16.
Ricky Jayram of Lot 53 Grove, East Bank Demerara was also stopped by the police and tested with a breathalyzer on February 16 while driving motor vehicle PJJ 7115 on the Grove Public Road, East Bank Demerara. He was found to be driving above the legal drinking limit and was charged.
Ravendranauth Jodha of Lot 67 Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara was driving motor vehicle PEE 4887 on the Madewini Public Road, Soesdyke/Linden Highway when he was stopped and tested with a breathalyzer on February 15. He was found to be above the legal limit in terms of alcohol consumption. He was fined when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates Court on February 19.
