Table leaders Guyana Jaguars roar into battle today against the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force in search of a victory which could assure them the West Indies Cricket Board’s (WICB) Professional Cricket League (PCL) four-day title.
Round nine will bowl off at 10:00hrs today at the Guyana National Stadium and the red hot Jaguars will seek to add to their 123 points which they have gathered from eight matches.
Seeking their sixth straight win, coach Esaun Crandon remains confident that the team who will play unchanged, can deliver.
“Obviously you know when a team is winning the confidence rises to a different level and at the said time we just want to come out and play good cricket against Trinidad. We just have to concentrate on what we have to do and at the end of the day, I believe our players are capable”.
During another recent interview with this newspaper the coach stressed on the fact that the batting needs to be upgraded.
“I am happy with the performances so far but everything is not smooth we are not there yet…still want to see our batters scoring hundreds consistently, especially at the top of the order”.
When these two sides met back in December prior to the tournament taking a break, the Jags mauled the Trinidadians on the Queen’s Park Oval turf by 60 runs.
Meanwhile, the Red Force, who are fifth on the table with 50 points, have included Mark Deyal and West Indies fast bowler Shannon Gabriel in the side, who replace the injured Daniel St Clair and all-rounder Akeal Hosein.
West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard will not be a part of the team after requesting an indefinite break from first-class cricket.
