A West Ruimveldt miner was shot to death on Friday night and police are still to apprehend a suspect.
Police yesterday identified the dead man as 40-year-old Anthony Lewis. Despite efforts yesterday Stabroek News was unable to made contact with his relatives. The body is at the Port Kaituma morgue awaiting transportation to the city for a post-mortem examination.
According to a police press release, investigations are being conducted into the murder which occurred at about 20:30 hrs last Friday at Five Star Backdam, North West District.
“Investigations have revealed that the body of Anthony Lewis was found with a suspected gunshot injury to his head in the vicinity of his mining camp,” the release added.
