West Demerara giants Slingerz Football Club will now be officially known as Bakewell Slingerz, securing their first major sponsorship deal with the Nasir and Nasir Group establishment yesterday at a simple presentation ceremony.
General Manager of the Albert Street and North Road company, Rajin Ganga, during a brief address said his company will be fully behind the Vergenoegen giants in their football pursuits and that the sponsorship will be a continuous endeavor.
Club Public Relations Officer (PRO) Rawle Toney thanked the company for its decision to support the Vergenoegen side noting that the development signaled the first but certainly not the last major sponsorship deal for the national heavyweights.
The sponsorship comes at a timely moment as Bakewell Slingerz will now attempt to clinch their first ever Kashif and Shanghai title when they open their campaign on Saturday against Victoria Kings at the Victoria Community ground.
To date, the West Demerara outfit has won two national titles which are the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Banks Beer Cup in 2013/2014 and the recently held Mayor’s Cup tourney in their short existence.
